The
ST18 power generation package is a fully-integrated modular system which can be
installed offshore to generate ultra-low-cost ancillary power directly from
excess gas production.
The self-contained package can generate approximately 2MW of electrical
power at 600V, making a significant contribution towards a reduction in
installation operating costs (eg. by cutting diesel consumption) while at the
same time improving overall environmental performance by reducing flaring.
Alba
Power’s ST18 package is based on the Pratt & Whitney gas turbine engine,
which features high efficiency with low maintenance
requirements
Alba Power’s ST18 module has just been completed at base and is
available for immediate viewing & dispatch.
The module’s 2MW output (generated directly from excess gas production)
was designed to contribute to significant reductions
on the platform’s operating costs by reducing both the running costs and
the maintenance costs of the installation’s conventional power generators.
Alba Power supplies a full turnkey installation service for the ST18
power generation package with optimised commissioning time and a wide variety
of service options.

The Pratt & Whitney
ST18 gas turbine engine
The
ST18 gas turbine is a derivative of the PW100 turbo-prop aircraft engine, of
which there are over 4800 in current flight service with over 100 million hours
of operating time worldwide.
Internal
aerodynamic parts in the new ST18 engines are common with the flight engines.
The
turbine combines the highest efficiency in its class with low maintenance
costs, and features a twostage centrifugal compressor with 30.2% overall
efficiency.

The control system
The
Allen Bradley PLC integrated control system incorporates a high-reliability
industrial programmable logic controller with easy access system screens for
operations data, diagnostic screens, trend monitoring/alarm and trip
information.
The
control system also features advanced DSLC™ for automatic synchronisation and
load share with the installation electrical system.
The
control package is supplied by Alba Power on-site, fully tested and ready for
use.
